When Jake was a puppy, I took him to PetSmart for puppy training classes, and I kid you not, one of the instructors actually asked me why I was trying to train a Boston Terrier since it was pretty much impossible. After that comment, I was pretty determined to have the most well-trained Boston ever, but it turns out that I think they guy was sort of right - Jake pretty much has a mind of his own and rarely listens to commands...or at least obey them. And it's not like I slacked off with the training either - I worked with him for an hour or so pretty much every day while we were enrolled in the classes.
So, like I said, I was wondering if any of you guys have had better luck with your Bostons. Do yours actually sit, stay, and come when told? If so, what was your secret to success?

That instructor should NOT be an instructor.

He obviously knows little about dogs.... Any dog is trainable with the proper methods. I have a Boston now and he is my 5th dog that i have trained. He is 6 months old now and i would honestly say he is one of the easiest to train so far. I am a previous owner of a Labrador, Springer Spaniel, Basset hound, & a Siberian Husky.
I really think what Cesar Milan (DOG WHISPERER) teaches about being a pack leader is key. Once you are the pack leader, training comes easy. It still takes patience and work, but in the end how well your dog does is up to you.
Good luck!
