esther gives some pretty solid advice above!

We also trim both of our Boston's nails ourselves. We use clippers like the one at the top of this picture. Both of our pups are pretty apprehensive about getting their nails trimmed, so we started rewarding them during the process with their favorite treat - peanut butter.

We started off with my wife holding them, and using her extra hand to scoop out a little peanut butter and let them lick away while I trimmed. It's kind of a tedious process, but it definitely helps them to take the focus off of what you're doing to their little feet

Here lately, they seem to have grown much more accustomed to me trimming their nails (though, they definitely don't enjoy it ). So much so, that the last couple of times I've trimmed their nails by myself, with no peanut butter. They of course got lots of peanut butter afterwards!
