Default 5 month old soiling crate

Hello,

Its my first time on this board and I just wanna ask a quick question...

We are the proud owners of a great 5 month old boston, which we had aquired at 8 weeks of age... We started with the crate at once and all seemed fine, besides a tendency to soil it when we went to work...
We try to make it home for lunch, but its not always possible... So almost
every day he soils the crate and in some case..... Ugh the soil is gone and I think down his little hatch... Not only is this quite distastful, but im sure not good for him... I had read before that pups often eat stool, but I was hoping this little problem would have passed by now... I guess another tid bit of info is that he no longer sleeps in the crate at night... One night about 2 months ago I fell to sleep with the dog in the bed and when I woke there he was... No mess and sleeping like a log... the next night back into the crate and he soiled it as normal... The following night I decided to test it and have him sleep with us and again NO problems... From that day he has been sleeping in a dog bed next to us and have had no issue beside him trying to sneak under the covers from time to time....

Tio does not seem to have any issues with his crate and goes into it at will when we go to work or plan to leave...

Any help or insight on these issues would be great!

Thanks
Larry

Here is the pup at 8 weeks... Currently 5 months...

Why don't you put his dog bed in the crate so he won't pee on it, but make sure you make him pee before putting him in the crate.
