Default Neutered Dog Humping
Old 10-06-2008, 11:19 AM   #1 (permalink)

I have a 2 year old neutered (at an early age) BT that likes to hump blankets and towels. ONLY blankets and towels, he has no interest in female dogs. I am thinking maybe it has something to do with the fact that they smell like "Mommy and Daddy" but I don't understand why he humps them. He does not like being covered up with blankets and towels and most of the time if you try (for instance when drying after a bath) he will grab it and hump it. He also likes to suck, as if nursing, on the same objects, not sure if this is significant.

He is deaf so when we want him to stop we tap him to get his attention then give him the no-no hand gesture that he learned at a young age. He will usually stop for a while then do it again later.

Any ideas on why he is doing this and how to make him stop permanently?

Suckling seems to be a trait with the BTs. Mine does it and I've learned from this forum that many others do also. Don't know about the humping. I guess it comforts him. At least it's only with the blanket or towel.
