I agree with not being cruel to dogs. The ASPCA does a great job but then there are organizations like PITA that go overboard and think they are Gods. We don't live in India. I see no harm getting physical during your training. It's what they expect and need. No matter how cute and how much we would like to think they are little people, the fact remains they are dogs. My dogs are part of my family and are treated as such, but as in every dog pack there "has" to be leader. You need to be that leader. My girlfriend will not take the time to show the dogs who is higher in the pecking order and how ever much she hates it, she has dealt her own hand.
