Default Reccomendation on a good dog pack
Old 06-21-2010, 12:11 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hey there everyone! I have a 3 year old male Boston Bull Terrier name Sprite. I try and take Sprite on a walk daily for 45 minutes, the only days I miss them is when the weather around our area gets really nasty. Sprite is very obedient and calm on our walks and he loves them. I think it might be time for the next level, to possibly take him on a hike. He loves long walks, and I think he would do really well in a hiking environment. I would like to get a dog backpack for him, but I'm really not sure what the best brand or model is. Would anyone out there have a good reccomendation on a small dog pack for sprite? I will try and post a pic asap.

I my experience, dog packs aren't all that helpful. It's easier to carry stuff in a backpack on my own back. All you really need is water and a small bowl. We had a pack for our retriever mix, so it was larger and it wasn't at all helpful and just made her hot.

I have this one, only because I found it at a store really cheap. The one that fits Tank is really too small to hold much of anything though, so I doubt I'll ever use it. It's hard to tell the actual size in the pics, but it's about the size of a regular mens wallet on each side.

Outward Hound also makes a hydration pack if you are looking for your pup to carry water, but I think the smallest they make is a medium which is probably too big for a BT unless you happen to have a large Boston.

Ruff Wear makes some really nice dog stuff, but they are $$.

I think a BT is a little too small to carry much of anything though, I just put extra water and a bowl in my backpack for Tank.
