She was talking to the poster, that posted above her post. (Was that confusing? lol!) Simon is their user name.

If anything, they should cost less and come with a neuter contract.
Exactly. Our new pup is seal, in sunlight she almost looks "Chocolate Brown" and in normal light she appears Black.. I will post some pics from the breeder later after work.

Simon--I was clarifying that Seal can't be confused with chocolate or red. Chocolate (solid brown) or red (solid red) occurs very rarely when you have a line with brindle in it.

I have two BT's with seal casts to their coats. They look completely black, even in the light, then when the sun hits them, there is a reddish tinge or glow--they are still black looking in the sun with that reddish tinge. They never look solid brown. Here's a rather rude website, but you scroll down to the bottom to see what true seal looks like: http://www.boston-terriers.com/offcolored.htm

I don't share the exact sentiments of the author of the site as I do see some breeders breeding 'off' colors in the same way as a top notch regular breeder.

No problem, I would never pay more for one now. Although i think they probably will one day be recognized (The reds) that is.

This pup just happened to be this way in a litter of all black and whites. So i jumped on it.

Yeah--I feel the same way. I tend to be a bit hard about finding a reputable breeder because I work in a shelter and see firsthand the number on unwanted dogs out there. If everyone took the time to get a reputable breeder (who will ALWAYS take her dogs back for any reason at any time), we'd see far fewer dogs in shelters.

I love Bostons and just want to see the breed made better--if that includes colored BT's someday, great! That would take away some of the temptation for unscrupulous breeders to charge more (thought people will always be selfish)

Agreed, My fear is inbreeding.. people will do stupid things to maintain those colors. But then again thats where genetic testing comes into play.
