Default Random Vomite
Old 01-12-2010, 06:57 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hello all I have a two year old Boston. My question is my pup just started randomly puking in the middle of the night, we have not changes her diet whatsoever. She is eating nutropro food. She has puked now 4-5 times in the last week, only at night. We feed her around 6pm everyday and a rough estimate is around 4am when she is having her problem. She seems to act fine and her stools are good. Any Suggestions?

Is it just bile or is there food in it? If it's bile, you can try giving her a little bit of food prior to bed; sometimes they just can't handle an empty stomach. If it's containing food, they *can* develop sensitivities to food they have been eating all their lives, but you'd see puking more often and skin stuff to go with it.

You may also try giving some probiotics for a few nights with dinner to reset her GI flora. YOu don't have to do it all the time, but it's good to do every 6 weeks or so. I use a powdered probiotic from nzymes.com, and you can also get good ones at a health food store. I like to get about 4 different strains of bacteria (yogurt doesn't have that many), and add half a capsule. Probiotics are great to have on hand for you as well, so it's not something that will be wasted. You can use it for traveling outside the country or when your tummy feels upset

We had a shih-tzu that did that whenever her stomach was empty. Yellowish foamy stuff. We fed her more and she was fine.

Radar had the same issue a few times. The vet said that it was nothing to worry about and suggest a small snack before bed. Now he doesn't do it at all. I've heard that it's pretty common with small breed dogs like BTs.

OK So we finally went to the vet, they thing it was some sort of stomach flu, Dr orders are chicken and rice for 5 days with antibiotics, I think my little put just wants the fine dining!!!. However she did have a ear infection which they think messed with her balance or something of that nature. 3 antibiotics strong and doing much better, ty for all the replies.
