It's one of two things - either she had just eaten before you went to look at her, or she has a belly full of worms. Either of those things make the puppy appear to have a bloated tummy. We have a 9 week old Boston puppy, and whenever she eats a lot of food.. her belly gets HUGE.. but once she starts digesting it, and has gone to the bathroom a few times her tummy gets back to normal size. If the breeder has been worming her regularly, then you shouldn't have to worry about it being worms. Peanut (our puppy) had been wormed 5 times before bringing her home at 8 weeks.

Your little one is really cute by the way - when do you get to bring her home?

She is pretty chubby, but so was Uma when she was that age as well. It may just be that she's a big girl. She's SOOO cute!!

Heffalump was a round little pup too, my mom called her Santa regurally. I would still speak to the breeder about worms though, just to be safe!

Bartleby had Coccidia when we first got him and he was a lump for sure. When you get your pup just take in a stool sample, worms and other parasites are pretty common in puppies, and its not really a bad thing. The only way to guarantee no parasites is to keep the puppies in a completely sterile environment, which would lead to health problems down the road, you have to let the immune system strengthen.

How did the other pups look? Bogie had worms when we got him but I was able to see them (in his poop). He was not big or bloated in the tummy. Mr Snubbs however is a little butterball and a true foodaholic. He gets lots and lots of exercise so I don't worry about it. It's likely just baby fat. Another sign of worms is blood in his stool and real runny poops. I guess this is also a sign of parvo. So don't panic like I did. The vet ran a parvo test just as a precaution. Worms have been a pain in the butt as I've had to treat Bogie and Snubbs twice. They are poop eaters and until that gets under control worms are a real problem. I watch close and pick up the poop but they are sneaky about it. With 5 dogs it is a bigger problem! Oh what we go through for these babies but I ain't complaining. When they are all snuggled around and on me at night when watching tv it's worth it. I love my little buddy's

wow thanks for the info guys. i go to pick up annie on april 2! great fridayi cant wait. she will be 8 1/2 weeks when she leaves her pack. im not shur if shes been dewormed in the past but my breeder has her schduled to the vet this week for a deworming. also on Easter monday, i have her an appointment with my cats vet for a check up along with a stool anallsis. so it should be all good!

as for the size of the other pups, i want to say they wernt as big as her but i picked her out at 4 weeks of age so when i went back to see her i was only focused on her. she really didnt seem as chubby as the pics make her look so i didnt really think about it twice. looking at the pics now it just looks crazy wide and really makes me wonder if shes alright. here are a few more pics that show a little more cuteness and a little less belly. thanks guys im glad to be part of this fourm

awww, she is so cute. I love them at that age, When you visit it must be hard to leave knowing you can't take her with you. I remember about 17 years ago when I got my 1st two Bostons (brother & sister) Boy and Girl, I had 1st seen them and picked them out the day after they were born. Both could sit in the palm of my hand. So tiny. Well we took them at 5 weeks. That was a long 5 weeks for me. I now know that was early but they were in Michigan and I was moving to NY so had to take them. Imagine, at that time they were being sold for $100 ea but since I was taking two they only charged $150. Boy how they have gone up!! Well good luck with your new baby. I'm anxious to hear about her as she grows.
