Default Size Question
Old 06-05-2007, 11:46 PM   #1 (permalink)

So, my lil guy is almost 9 weeks old, and hes about 4.5 lbs. I was wondering with your guy's puppies, weights at ages and such. Just trying to determine how big he will be. He seems big right now to me, and I would like him to be on the bigger side of the breed. My friend has a Boston, and her girl was 45 lbs!!!
Anyone have any expierences like this?!

He looks like he will be good size. I have 2 bostons a girl...15lbs full grown. And A boy...30 lbs full grown and I think he's the perfect size....and he's big...tall and muscular. I bet your will be 25-30 lbs.

If you weigh him at 3 months and then double that weight it will give you a pretty good idea at what he will be when full-grown. My bet is about 18 - 29 pounds but you never know...

How much did his parents and grandparents weigh? Your puppies breeder should be able to give you all that information.

We brought Romi home at 9 weeks old and she went to the vet that week and weighed 2lbs 13oz. At her next vet visit 3 weeks later she was 4lbs 7oz, and at her final vet visit at about 15 weeks she weighed 6lbs 13oz.

Romi is about 17 weeks now and I think she weighs between 7-8 lbs. The breeder we got her from had her parents and the mom was 15lbs and the dad was somewhere between 20-25lbs.

Romi is a girl so I guess she is taking after her mother.

If your pup weighed twice as much as Romi did at the same age, then I would guess your dog's gonna be more than 15lbs and closer to the big range you want.

So how big is he now, he's almost 20 weeks old right?

Default Bo
Old 10-04-2007, 01:37 PM   #5 (permalink)

Hi,
Bo will be 10 weeks tomorrow and a week ago when he was 9 weeks he weighed 4 lb 6oz. He's short though, very short legs and torso. I saw BT pups at the pet store yesterday that were born two days before him and were much longer in the leg and torso area....
Bo's parents were both fairly small so my guess is he may not be very tall but he might be stocky.

I just got my dogs weighed yesterday at the vet.

Buster is a 5 yr old male - 27 lbs (very muscular and tall but i"m told he's big for a BT, however, I like his size)
Bandit is a 5 yr old female - 18 lbs
Bocci is a 12 wk old female - 7 lbs...I think she will be Bandit's size or smaller which is fine because I love Bandit's size.

Buddy was the "round one" of his litter. He is now 3 1/2 and weighs about 27 pounds. However, he is very lean and has no real fat on him (except all the wrinkles around his neck.) I have found Bostons vary in weight, I have seen adult males at 12 lbs. all the way up to 35 lbs.

The AKC and Boston Terrier Club Of America's standard for the Boston Terrier states:

Weight is divided by classes as follows: Under 15 pounds (but no less then 10 pounds); 15 pounds and under 20 pounds; 20 pounds and not to exceed 25 pounds.

You can read the whole illustrated standard at:
