I have the blessed opportunity to have a choice of two wonderful animals to adopt. One happens to be the cutest and most wonderful Boston terrier and the other the absolute most precious Boxer. Both are 3 years old.
What would be the recommended compliment to my home. I want what is best for the dogs. I live in a Condo which I own and have two children 9 and 5 and Winston.
What kinds of questions should I be asking myself and which would be the better compliment for my living situation? Any advice greatly appreciated. Both are a fair distance from home so I would really like to focus on the one dog and not hinder the others chances of finding a good home.
Hi, I have both, I have a boxer and a BT, I also live in a condo, whatever you decide they will be great together, the Boxer personality and the BT personality are closely matched, I'm happy I have both, but a pair of BT's would be great also.
I'll refer to dkz's expertise on this matter, since she has one of each breed.
Boxers are definitely a beautiful breed, and often have wonderful personalities. I would have definitely considered getting one if they were just a bit smaller.
Best of luck in your decision! Let us know what you decide
I've had both...not at the same time though. Raising a boxer pup was very challenging. She was a good dog, but not very bright. These are both 3 years old, so they should already be trained at least.
If it were me, I'd get another BT for simple size considerations. That sounds like an already crowded situation, and a bigger dog could make it worse. Boxers make good house pets despite their size, but personally, I'm of the believe that larger dogs need room to run.
