Kele,

I know there at least USED to be reputable Boston breeder in Hawaii. Have you checked with the Breeder Referal for the Boston Terrier Club Of America? http://www.bostonterrierclubofamerica.org/referral.html Or your local kennel club?

You will not find a reputable breeder listed in the newspaper. You may have to contact someone on the mainland and have one shipped to you...

Good luck and let us know if you find one...

There was a breeder that advertised but it was $1200 for males and $1400 for females. That was a little too steep for me. I'm willing to stud Buddy. I'm not trying to make insane profits either.

You need to know what you are doing before you get a dog...regardless of if it is a BT or not. $1,200 is a great price for a BT that has all it's health testing. The price may seem a bit steep, but if it saves you the additional money you may spend because you get a dog that has health problems galore, then it is really more of a bargain...please read all the articles on this website before starting your own breeding program. It isn't about just having puppies, but healthy puppies that conform to the standard and from a breeder that breeds to further the breed, not make it fall behind. BT's are not easy to breed and you lose money more than you make it with them. They almost always require C-Sections and I can tell you they aren't cheap!

Please don't be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution!

I was going to suggest you go to a dog show and meet the breeders, but I just went and looked at the online records of the shows in HI and unfortunately more often than not no Boston Terriers are even entering in the shows!

There are quite a few wonderful breeders in California, I know traveling is expensive but so are vet bills can run thousands of dollars if you get a boston with health issues. Healthy well bred bostons in the 48 very often cost $2000, I expect on the island they are more rare and challenging to find, so I would not be surprised if similar puppies cost even more. I think most things cost more anyway on the island, so I expect bostons are the same. If you can save a $1000 by purchasing from the west coast, then that might pay for your airfare.
