What are people on this board doing to clean their dog's teeth? I saw a tooth brush and meat-flavored toothpaste combo pack at the pet store and almost bought it, but I can imagine what a pain in the butt it would be to use.
Kermit's just a puppy, but I want to make sure that I keep his teeth as clean as possible so I'm curious what suggestions people have...thanks.
My vet told me to use a cotton ball with my finger with dog toothpaste b/c he going to lose his puppy teeth anyway. So thats what I'm doing now so he can get used to having my finger in his mouth. But I have to use dog treats after every session.
I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd give my two cents. I use a dog toothbrush with peanut butter flavored toothpaste. At first I let him lick a little bit off the brush, then just did his front teeth. Now I can do his whole mouth which isnt his favorite so I only do it about once every other week. I found that the best advice is to not get frustrated and to stay calm and talk to him/her in a calm voice. The more frustrated tense I get, the more frustrated tense he gets. I also didnt think it was important to brush his teeth, but our four year old pug has serious dental issues that are too late for us to handle so we have to take him to a specialist.
