Default Jogging with a Boston?
Old 05-27-2008, 11:31 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hey all... I have been looking for new ways to give my Boston the exercise she needs. Tonight, I got out the old hockey skates and skated around the neighborhood with her, which she loved. We didn't go too far, because I wasn't sure how her breathing would do. She did pretty well.

Anyone here run with their Bostons? If so, how far do you typically go? My Boston is very athletic and active, so I am going to try running/skating with her regularly.

I usually walk our Boston, Lexi, around late evening (7 pm) and we sometimes run but always in short sprints then walk for a bit then run some more so she won't pass out on me lol. We have taken her to the beach alot too which she is loving now that she is used to running through the water. Running with your dog would be fine just keep an eye on her so she doesn't overheat which these dogs are prone to do.

My Boston can usually handle a one mile run, but it really depends on your dog, the weather, and how fit your dog is. Toby [my dog] is pretty active, and I only walk him when it isn't too hot. When it is hot, I usually walk him around the block and back.

Cool, thanks guys. I appreciate the input. It's always good to hear what other's are doing.

Still haven't tried the dog beach with her yet, but she hasn't been too fond of water so far... haha.
