I am new to the forum. I am blessed with a wonderful 2 year old BT named Cleo (short for Cleopatra) She has accepted alll of the training that I have exposed her to and she rarely disappoints me. But we are 65 and she is our little girl. While we have not forgot that she is a dog and expect her to respect us and obey the house rules, we do spoil her. I feed her at 7:00am and 3:00pm if she has finished first feeding. She is very fussy about eating (I leave it down all day but sometime she has not finished it by 3pm and if she does not eat it by 6:00pm I take the food up. My biggest concern is the lateness of the last time out to relieve herself. I take her out (she is a house dog) about every 3 hours to relieve herself but have been waiting until 1100pm for the last time. I would like to start taking her out about 9pm. Would 9pm - 7:00am the next morning (6:00am) be too long for her to go without relief? In two years I can count on one hand the times she has had an accident (raised her from a pup). Any advice will be appreciated.

William every dog is differnent so nobody can really know until you try it.

Since it sounds like you have her on a very regular schedule right now, I would suggest just adding 1-hour to her inside time and see how it goes for a day or two. if she is fine, then add another hour until she is inside as long at you are hoping for.

Of course food and water are going to need to make her go, so you might consider feeding her ONLY a in the AM so she is not eating anywhere near her bedtime. Obviously you do not want her to be unhealthy, but you might want to consider removing her water around 6:00 just to make sure she does not drink too much late in the day. If she is playing hard, hot, eating dry food in the PM, then it might not be safe to remove her water since she could become dehydrated.

as far as her being fussy with her meals, unless she is actually under weight, or sick, then there is really no need to insist she eat more than she wants to.

i wouldn't worry about the times that she releaves herself. it's an adult dog and i'd wait until she lets you know when she needs to go out. you'll see that she will let you when she really needs to go. my dog is now 2 and he holds it for 8 hours. he has always gone every 4 hours. then i thought he should be able to hold it and i'd wait. mostly he goes every 8 hours but if he needs to go earlier i let him out. he lets me know by walking to and from the front door. i let him out for the last time between 8 and 10pm and he holds it for an easy 12 hours.
i would never take the food and water away.she is potty trained but just needs to hold it longer. if she drinks obessively then you could considder this but otherwise let her drink when she wants to. my dog is also a fussy eater. if she doesn't lose weight just leave it.
