Not all rescues are abused. Owners often give up their dogs because they dont have time for them or they have kids. Rescue does not equal abused dogs.

I got my bossie when he was 8 weeks old and I was working 8am to 4:30pm. With very young bostons you need to let them out at least every two to three hours. I made it work by going home during lunch to let him out, plus my roommate was there many days to let him out frequently. Now that he's a year and a half old he can stay crated for 8 to 9 hours with no problems. I definitely would only buy one if you can let him out during the day while he's a young puppy. I hope you can find something to work because my boston is the best pet I've ever had. Not to sound cliche but he's my best friend.

I agree that you should not get a puppy. They require a LOT of attention. With your busy schedule that will be exhausting and frustrating. Getting an older dog, no matter the breed, will be easier for everyone. Perhaps you have a neighbor that can take him out during the day. It might be a great job for a responsible child (12 or older).

A note about using wee wee pads - that only teaches the dog that it is okay to potty in the house and makes house breaking much harder.

Bostons are great dogs, but they need companionship, and its sounds like you don't have time for a dog of any sort. Maybe a cat?

Me and my wife got our puppy boston at 3 months old. We both have busy work schedules, and at times our puppy was home alone for 9 hours! We both knew that it was going to be difficult to pull off, and trust me, the first 6 weeks was very frustrating at times, but everything is fine now. After lots of research and hard work we think we have a very well adjusted boston, with a friendly disposition, and we love her dearly.

Because we are so busy, we knew we had to make an extra effort to make sure she became a well adjusted dog. We changed our routine so that we are able to take her on long walks in the morning and in the evening. She probably spends an hour a day walking with us, even with our busy life. We wake up extra early and also walk her at night when we are tired. This is key! You have to give your boston an outlet to expend all her energy, especially if she spends time alone. If you do not, you will have a crazy boston. We also like playing fetch with her inside the house. We have a long hallway that enables her to sprint up and down at full speed (she's VERY fast). Just remember to keep her active when you are home, and you should be fine. Tire her out, so that she sleeps during the day when you are not home. This is also healthy for you too, because it forces you to exercise.

It may sound cliche, but read Cesar Milan's books (the dog whisperer guy). He goes into detail about this.

Hello every one..
I don’thave a Boston by my self but im really in love whit de breed.
Me and my mom have 4 Chihuahuas and 1 Afghan hound.
We breeds the race Chihuahua.
My one experience is that you should never live a puppy alone fore more thanTWO hour, its not fare.
Cus when you got the puppy home its very important that you have time, a lots of time.
And if you don’t have the time what until you got you vacation/holiday so you got at least 2 month free for you and puppy. Don’t live the puppy alone in the beginning but if you have to go away fore some reason have some one ho can watch after the puppy fore you.
The first month with the puppy is very important, cus in that time you and the puppy are get to know each other and create a trust, this time is the most important time in all dogs life’s, don’t miss it!
When you got a puppy its like to get a baby, you ned to take a lots of responsibility you ned to have time and give time, you need to give the dog love and a god home, and show the dog respect!
A while after when you and you dog have got to know each other little bit more and de dog has become house-trained and when the dog feel stable in his/her new house and this 2month have gone you can start to train the dog being alone i the house longertimes.
Remember that a full-grown dog NEVER should be alone more den 5-6 hours intervals!
And a full-grown dog ned to get out whit 5-6 hours intervals!
Hers is a puppy schedule:
Puppy wakens up
puppy needs to gett out immediately,
puppy comes in,
puppy get food,
puppy plays,
puppy needs to rest
puppy wakens up
puppy needs to gett out
And remember that a puppy ned to sleepa a lot so never wake up a puppy who sleeping.

In my place can it lock like this forethe full-grown dogs:
The dogs get out 7am in a 20min walk
12am they got a walk 1-1,5 hours in the wood
17pm the dogs have a 30min walk
22pm the dogs have a 30min walk again and after that we go to sleep.

And the next morning it starts over again.

And remember to enjoy the puppy time cus before you can say hello its over..

Here is some rules in Sweden that you need to follow:
  • Dogs and Catas shall have supervision at least two times at day. Young, sick ore hurt dogs and cats shall supervisions often.
  • Dog and Cats shall have there need of social satisfy.
  • Dogs that keeps indoors shall regular exercise outdoors, and show recpekt to the dogs age and state of health. Dogs that regular keeps in cages outdoors shall daily exercise in some other places than the yard.
  • A dog shull never be tie up indoors. Outdoor the dog shall never hold in a rope permanent.
  • Dog and Cats shall never keeps in cage only in specific moments (like dog shows, competition and test, training befor competition, ore relation whit hunting and relation whit transpoort).
  • The table who contents the sizes of dogs cages and dog boxes measure by the dogs sizes and height instead fore the weigh.
And one last thing just because you bye a dog who’s ageis 2 year (for example)
and not a puppy doesn’t mean that it sokej to live the dog home alone in many hour.
in the beginning you and the dog need to get to know eachother until the dogs feels stableand safe in his/her new house.

I hope some one have the time to read this and excuse me for my bad English im from Sweden haha
