Question 6 month old Boston with Diahrrea!
Old 09-24-2008, 12:43 AM   #1 (permalink)

Help! I have a baby boston, Lily. She had Giardia when I first got her, she is treated and shows no signs of Giardia, except for her runny POOP! The vet keeps doing Fecal test saying everything looks fine. She is on Hills Prescription Diet I/D food and that still doesn't help. I've heard bostons have an allergy to chicken. Is that true? Is she allergic to chicken? I am so FRUSTRATED!

Have you done an allergy test? Thats about the only way to tell unless you switch her food. You could try a bland diet, rice and maybe add some cooked and grease strained hamburger. Make sure she is drinking enough water, the runs can dehydrate them pretty quick. Check with your vet firse, but you could also add a little bit of plain canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) to her food. It has a lot of fiber and water.

When my dogs get runny poop for more than a day or so, I make them about a cup of white rice, and cut up a hot dog in it, and problem solved. Make sure there's nothing serious going on there 1st always though.

A really good way to get rid of this is getting a can of pumpkin pie filling and giving your pup a couple of spoons full...

Not 'pie filling' - just plain pumpkin. It might take a day or so to work.

Yes, sorry.. I wasn't paying attention when I wrote that.

But it's a can of pure pumpkin and not the pie filling..
