Question Corkscrew tail
Old 10-26-2008, 06:25 AM   #1 (permalink)

Audrey is settling in well (with a few hiccups) after two weeks at her new home with us. Of course she's gorgeous and a constant source of wonder to us... but tell me, do all, or lots of BT have spirally corkscrew shaped tails? It's tiny and at first not noticeable, but the shape is reminiscent of a piglet and definitely a corkscrew shape... it feels quite strange.

Well, from what I was told about how they make these tails look so small is that they tie them with wire when they are little and the rest of the tail falls off. That is how they end up with the little stubby tail. Maybe that is the unique part about your Boston. They don't generally have piglet tails, but my bulldog does!

The Bostons tail is completely natural, and shouldnt be docked in any sort of way. No knowledgable breeder would dock them. Some are corkscrew, stubby, or can be longer. Rosco has a corkscrew.

My Astro has a corkscrew tail that is really tight against his butt - you do have to kinda look for it...

Well, I guess the trainer was wrong about the tail! He told me they put wire on the tails to make them small and stubby!! Glad to know that didn't actually happen to my Bindi! My English Bulldog was born with a corkscrew tail.

Maybe the trainer isnt up on Bostons very much. I know that they will be disqualified from show if they have docked tails or ears.

We won't be showing her, but there is nothing docked about Bindi. Her ears are so cute I would never do anything to them.
