I'm no expert on dog nutrition, but it seems to me if your dog is eating the food and isn't exhibiting any symptoms of a certain condition, all is pretty much well.

However, I would stay away from that generic, grocery store dog food that's lacking in proper nutrients.

Our breeder had Beckham on IAMS Puppy but after some research on what shouldn't be in dog food, we moved him to Merricks 5 Star Puppy Plate.

We were very happy with the quality of the food and Beckham absolutely LOVED it. He then developed some sort of allergy and was itching a lot. We weren't sure if it was food relate so just in case we moved him to WELLNESS allergy formula (venison and brown rice).

He likes this food as well but the Merricks really did have a lot more to offer (including major stinky farts). We're just eliminating some of the possibilities.

There's some really good food out there for your 4 legged babies and the premium stuff really doesn't cost much more (if any).

BTW, we controlled his gas problem with the addition of plain fat free yogurt (1 tspn/day with meal). It did wonders, so if anyone is having gas problems, I'd start there.

Great tip about the yogurt - I've heard a lot of other BT owners say the exact same thing.

I still have sapphire on Iams, but my neighbor down the street has 3 bostons and she said i should put her back on Royal Kanine. I will see she seems to be doing ok and my vet says don't try to fix things that aren't broke lol i agree

Hey my BT today has started to have a farting problem as well, quite loud too haha. She's a joy, loves to sleep and we've gotten her to sleep in her crate with the door open to show her that is where she sleeps.

Anyways so i'm feeding her this medical development formula the vet gave us. It has egg, fish and chicken protein, lots of amino acids like L-Glutamine, etc and antioxidants, Also other things like certain oils and flax and carbs from rice etc.

I usually feed her in the morning, afternoon and night around 8 or so as i stay up pretty late. Usually a couple hands fulls, maybe a cup each round. Is this too much or too little? Will this Yogurt in one of the meals help the farting issue? What's this raw diet all about?

Thanks!!!

Well the breeder had MoJo on Nutro Max puppy the dry kind(is there a wet kind?), any ways once we got her there was always blood in her stool for the first 3 days. So back to the vet we went, and they gave her Hills SD ID. We kept MoJo on it for 2 weeks, and after the first 24 hours there was no more blood. We weaned her back to the Notro Max Puppy, and now our only problem is foul gas. I am wanting to try the yogurt. Maybe I will pick some up this weekend.

I put Buddy on Canidae, but when he comes home from living with my parents he will be going on 1/2 raw and 1/2 nature's variety.

I have a few sites about good foods and bad ones, maybe i'll dig them up for some reading material for everyone!!

My friend was feeding her dog science diet and she read over the label and it had sawdust in it (it didnt say sawdust but another word for it) and she freaked out...

definately reading labels is the best thing you can do, and researching what the ingredients mean and are...

buying the best food you can afford is best for your dog!!
