I've had my BT now for 3 weeks and i switched him from Innova to Bil-Jac...
he was having tummy problems during the first 2 weeks on innova.... his stool now is hard and solid as other BT owners have told me. So I'm pleased with BilJac.

I pretty much feed my BT Ol' Roy small bites I had been feeding her Science Diet but she was having major skin problems with that food.

I've had a hard time finding the right dog food for my 1 year old BT. I tried everything, he had bad skin losing his hair. Finally the vet but him on Royal Cain it seems to be working.

Can I ask you how well your dogs are doing on the raw diet? I am having problems with my two bostons eatting and pooping properly. My youngest is 14 weeks old and she still has the runs, and my other is 9 months old and is turning her nose of at all dog food... only tuna, salmon, and lean ground beef she will eat. Is there away you can share with me your recipe for raw food, or are you buying it already made?

When she turns a year I am seriously considering makeing her food myself, my vet has many holistic recipes I can try. She also advised to Check the ingredients to what you are feeding your Pups. stay away from those that contain meat by-products, wheat, and soy.

Ps. http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/ I found this site interesting.
I have my two bostons on Wellness for Puppies. My 10 year old Pug is on Fish and Potatoe Wellness. The pug is doing great on Wellness however my two boston terriers have soft to lose poops. I have been using Wellness Puppy for 2 months (one month with the 14 week old and 2 months with the 9 month old). The 9 month BT now has decided she doesn't like Wellness at all... nor any dry dog food. The 14 week loves food altogether... so that's not the problem. I want to change their food but am afraid too. Have you changed your food yet?

Can I ask if his stool has been okay? My two BT's have been wonderful playing puppies... however their stool on Wellness has been lose or runny since they have been on this food. My one BT now doesn't even want to eat it anymore. I was thinking of changing to Royal Cain Mini Bits or something in this brand. Both my BT's have shinny coats now with a bit of dander

I was feeding Nugget Eukanuba- that made her fart! That is what they were feeding here when I bought her, so I bought some of that!

I have since switched to Science Diet- My mother was adiment about me switching her. My mom is a CVT and very involved in the upbringing of my "fur baby" (her word not mine). SHe told me to ease into it, but I decided to offer her the switch and see how she did with it. She is eatting the science diet just fine, although I think the bits are a little hard for her to chew with her little baby teeth- she will take a few pieces, run into the living room to sit and eat them, then run back to her bowl for more. It also takes her a lot longer to finish her meal- she was finishing the Eukanuba in about 5 minutes, but this morning I gave it to her and she wasn't done with it before I left for work- I ended up putting it in her crate for her to finish! I think I may start mixing it with wet food (and a little water) again to help her eat it!

My mom insists that Science Diet is the best possible food- with Eukanuba a close second!

Our little girl is a somewhat 'picky' eater. She may gobble it down for a day then almost fast the next one. I sure do ruin a lot of food that way as I moisten it. She was on Science Diet when we got her and we changed her over to Innova puppy dry. Because she's picky, I've experimented with others. She turns her nose up on Wellness, doesn't like Canidae, Blue Buffalo or Halo.

Our two standard poodles love California Natural (lamb and rice) and their stools are smaller and firmer than they were on their last food. They used to have gas problems but since going on CN they've been rather quiet in that department. Long story short, The mention of Royal Canin got my attention for the BT but based on how the other two do on CN I'm tempted to get her some CN puppy. She has sampled their food and the kibble is too large for her but she loves it.

What's real funny is I had a black Doberman 30 years ago and fed her 'Joy' dog food (if you remember it), mixed it with Pedigree canned and she had the shiniest coat I've seen on a dog. Of course those foods contained all the no-no's you aren't supposed to feed them these days. I just wonder how well they would do on the old fashioned brands? You know you have to raise an eyebrow to some of the claims made on modern (expensive) foods just because the almighty dollar is involved.

If I hit on one she's loves and eats regularly, I'll report back in.

Jim

P.S. The California Natural is made by Natura and is the cheapest of it, Innova and Innova EVO - go figure!

We're switching Lila over to the California Natural Lamb and Rice puppy. She loves the taste. Time will tell if it agrees with her but she's no more gassy than before.
