I just recently brought Tie-Son home who is now 7 weeks old. I've been watching him and getting to know his eating/drinking habits. I was told to leave his food and water down during the day because he needs to fatten up a little. I know that dogs need water obviously but is it normal for them to drink ALL DAY LONG? I mean the second I set him on the floor to run around and potty, he goes immediately to the water bowl and just goes to town. He also pees constantly. I've noticed it's not a lot of pee everytime, just the first time he goes. Then it's little drops everywhere. Do you think this is a bladder issue? Or do I need to just limit his water amount? I don't want him to get dehydrated or anything.

We feed MoJo at 8, 2, then 8 at night. Her food is put down and she eats it instantly If it is down longer than 15 minutes without her eating it, we put it up. All the advice I had gotten said to do this as then you can know when they are going to potty. MoJo has a #2 within 15 minutes after eating.

Now water we leave down all day, and she sounds like your Tie-son all day long she drinks water. I sometimes fill her water bowl 3 times a day, and within 5 minutes of her taking a drink we go outside. This has worked awesome for her training, and she is almost completely housebroken.

I had asked my vet about the amount of water she is drinking and she said that was okay.

I don't leave water down for Shae, because she will go to the sink and whine when she wants water. I can't believe how smart these dogs are.

could be a bladder infection. let the vet check her out! dont' let you puppy drink all the time. if a dog or person drinks too much water they can give them selves water poisoning and could die !
i had a weimaraner that was addicted to water. came from a puppy farm which i found out later. i adopted him. he had to be put to sleep at one anmd a half years old!
but bladder infection could cause the pup to drink more or pee more. also diabetes could cause this berhavior. diabetes also causes a pup to lose weight.
my advise let the vet check her out. it might be nothing but atleast you'll be sure shes healthy!

Definitely sounds like a UTI. Get that pup to a vet!
