Unhappy Need Advice...Hiccups and vomiting
Old 08-24-2007, 11:11 PM   #1 (permalink)

Shae vomited today for the first time...I let her outside today when she went to the door as I usually do. I waited for 5 minutes and open the door to let her in and found vomit on the concrete porch. It was greenish in color. But I have a sheltie outside dog and I thought it might be her cause Shae didn't act sick. Then tonight shae came over to the computer where I was and started whinning. I tried to get her up in my lap and she kept pulling away. So I got up and followed her. She went to the living room and sat in front of the couch and whinned. So I picked her up and sat on the couch with her and she fell straight asleep. After about 45 minutes I got up and laid her on the leather couch and left the room. My husband yelled for me to come back in the living room that Shae had vomited. It was thick yellow yucky stuff. I took her outside for a few minutes and then brought her back in and gave her a drink of water. She seems okay right now..I haven't done anything different...she's eating the same food..science diet..same amt..same time each day..only thing different is a new stuffed animal i gave her to play with yesterday..I took it away from her after the second vomit to see if that has anything to do with it....Any advise on bt having problems with vomiting would surely be appreciated. Thank you..btw she has always had hiccups..from the day I bought her home...is that normal ?....

the vomitting that you discribe sound like she had an empty stomach. when dogs have an empty stomach they will often throw up yellowish foam. this is the product of the gaul bladder. this is usually harmless. if you give your puppy a peace of brown bread between meals you will see that the vomitting dissapears. and about the hiccups i wouldn't have a clue. doesn't sound serious and if she doesn't have any problems with it i wouldn't worry about it.........

No empty stomach..lol..she get plenty to eat..she is only a regular schelued meal plan and gets treats in between meals. I think I found out what it is. Like I said it was greenish the first time. I watch her close outside yesterday and she eats grass...i had noticed that she lays in the grass and chews at it but I thought she was just playing with it not eating it. But today i saw she was eating it. My husband says animals do this sometimes when they have a upset stomach. She hasn't vomited anymore. I'm feeding her exactly what the directions on the science diet food bag says and she eats twice a day with water by her at all times. Then she has this toy that I place treats in that she can play with and when the treats roll out she eats them. Thanks for your comments..Have a nice day..
