Default Cherry eye problem
Old 03-01-2008, 06:42 PM   #1 (permalink)

Lexi, our 5 month old BT has just gotten the dreadful "cherry eye" in her left eye. When we got her the people told us that she had the same problem before and the vet totally removed the gland to fix the problem permanently. Now that she has it ,we took her to our vet the other day and he suggested we have it "tacked" back into place so she won't develop dry eye later in life possibly and it would cost me $475 to have the surgery done. Needless to say I was floored when he told me that price, I plan on having her spayed at the same time as this surgery so she only has to be put under anasthesia once. Has anyone experienced this before, if so, what did you have done to correct it? The vet said it is only cosmetic and not affecting her health but I still want to have it done because it looks very aggrivating to me. Also, the vet said it had a chance of re-occuring even after the expensive surgery so I am at a loss of what to do, please anyone help.
