Default BT Regurgitation Problem
Old 07-10-2008, 01:18 PM   #1 (permalink)

My wife and I got our 2nd BT named Spencer, after our first passed. He was 7 weeks old and weighed 3 1/2 lbs when we got him. His parents weigh 15 lbs. After 3 days, Spencer started violently vomiting. We had kept him on the same diet as the in home breeder, soft canned food mixed with science diet small bite kibble. We took him to the vet immediately. We had a Berium Xray done, which ruled out an esophagus problem. The vet rule out parvo virus, and put him on two liquid meds. After about 5 days he was no better. We discontinued the meds and he improved. We put him on Hills prescription diet, i/d and a/d mixed. He eats 3 times a day, we elevate his food. He is now 12 weeks, and 7 1/2 lbs, doing well growth wise, a great puppy, very smart, active, crate and potty trained, but he still regurgitates once or twice a day. Not a vomit per se. We have noticed he will reguritate after playing for 1/2 hour. He will not tolerate any kibble in his food, and if he eats a bug or grass or chews a stick, he will reguritate it after a few hours. The vet thinks he might have either an immature palate or a small opening between his stomach and his intestines. The vet thinks he will grow out of it. Any thoughts people? Anyone have an experience like this with their BT? I'll carefully consider any suggestions. Thanks

I'm not a vet by any means, but when my girl was younger she used to puke all the time. She has totally grown out of it, but I swear I cleaned up more puke stains on my carpet than anything else.

Sensitive breed from what I hear.

My BT has this same problem and he is only 13 weeks old. I just got him last Wednesday and will be taking him to the vet tomorrow and will also inquiry about this problem so I will let you know what she tells me. I thought that maybe wally was eating his food too fast and then playing too hard. I also thought maybe eating the grass had a part to do with it because he eats it every time we go outside.
