Default Are Bostons delicates?

Hi,

This is my second post in reference to my now 10 months old Boston. We have Olivia since she was 6 weeks old, and it seem that she has being having issues constantly. We have spent around $3,400.00 in vet bills so far, $2,800.00 of that money to save one of her eyes after suffering a laceration.

The past two weeks she seems to be under the weather. She sleeps a lot. Yesterday she started to close her eyes while seating down waiting for her dinner. This is very sad! When we walk her she seems to be fine, but once she gets inside of the house she goes directly to her bed to sleep.

Around a month ago our Vet ran some blood work to test how her organs were working. She said that everything was fine.
I'm taking her back to the vet today. Her symptoms are tiredness, not eating as much and lately closing her eyes like they bother her. She also scratches a lot around and under her mouse area.

We live in the Northern Virginia area, do you guys know of a vet that might specialize in Bostons in this area?

Any ideas? If there anything in particular that I can ask my vet to check for?

Thanks.

I'm sorry your little girl is not feeling great. 6 weeks is way too young to be getting a puppy so you may have gotten her from a questionable source? That might account for some of the health issues. She might have allergies but it sounds like something more is going on as well. I hope it doesn't end up being serious.

Thanks for your comment. My son owned the Mom and Dad. They "ALL" came to visit for a week bringing her with them. Olivia's Dad suffers from allergies, but nothing else. Both Mom and Dad are both in good health.

Yesterday she had the pressure of her eyes checked, and was checked for glaucoma. Thank God that was all fine. She also had a stool sample done to check for parasites. I will know the results of that test today.

Her vet said that the next step will be to have her tested for Addison Diseased. The emergency room doctor from one of her trips also suggested having her tested for Addison Disease.

My vet also told me that if the result of the parasite test and Addison is all negative, I would have to bring her to a neurologist for dogs.

Olivia is my first Boston and we love her so much, I love her big expressive eyes and her sweet personality.

Poor baby, so everything is okay with the eyes? I was thinking she might be acting funny because she was in pain from her eyes. Is she on heartworm medication? I hope you find some answers soon and that they are good ones.

I'm sorry she's not feeling well! Good luck on the tests!

As far as the "mouse area", are you referring to her vaginal area? Has she been spayed or has she been in heat yet? If not, perhaps she is going into heat...? Just a suggestion...

"Mouse"...oh, I thought she meant to write "mouth". Haha. Well, going in heat can cause some of that behavior, right? I've never had a dog in heat so I don't really know.

Sorry, I did misspell “Mouth”. The vet was not concerned about that. The result of the parasites was negative, so the next step would be to have her tested for Addison. She is not spayed since she had vaginitis since she was around three months. . The vet wanted her to go through one heat cycle to see if the discharge would stop, but it didn’t (I forgot to mentioned that to her the other day). Her heat cycle was two months ago.

Do you guys think that a dog with neurological problems would act different when they go outside? Seriously, she is the happiest dog when she is outside, which just doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks for your concerns and ideas. Please let me know if you can think of anything else
