My 1 1/2 year old boston terrier, Laurel, has been having seizures since December 2007. She's been on Phenobarbital since then and would still have them twice/month. Just two weeks ago she had 12 in 3 days...they last under a minute and are in clusters of 3. We took her to the e-clinic and our vet now has her on a loading dose of potassium bromide with her pheno. She is miserable to be around....constantly crying, stares into space, etc. Has anyone gone through something like this and can tell me what to expect right now and in the future? She's not even 2 years old, and I don't want her to be miserable on this medicine her entire life. My husband and I jave talked about putting her down but I don't want to regret it if she can be helped and have a good quality of life.
