Default bumps suddenly developing on my Boston, help!
Old 09-26-2008, 06:36 PM   #1 (permalink)

When I woke up this morning my Boston Terrier had developed mosquito-like bumps along his hindquarters, particularly his anus and above his tail. In the past few hours it seems like they might have spread as I am now noticing some up his spine and around his ears. They do not appear to be bothering him too much but some of them definitely do itch. I have racked my brain for things that he has been exposed to in the past 24 hours that he was not exposed to prior, but I can not come up with any. He is about 10 months old and also is being treated for signs of Cherry Eye. I gave him his flea medicine about 3 weeks ago but I did give him a bath several days ago as well. The vet is closed until tomorrow, does anyone know what is going on and/or what I can do for him until I can get him into the vet? Please help! Thanks.

Same thing happened to our BT last month. We took him to the vet and he had a skin infection. The Vet gave him antibiotics to help clear it up and also a shampoo to bathe him in.

We recently moved to Kansas and while playing out in the yard or possibly at the dog park, he got bit up by some bugs, most likely chiggers. They bit him up. It wasn't the chiggers that caused the infection, it was from him itching and bacteria getting into the bumps. The infection spread throughout his whole body within a few days - all while we were waiting for his appt at the vet. His whole body felt like they had scabbed bumps all over.

I hope I've helped. In the meantime, until you get him to the vet, bathe him in a medicinal type of puppy shampoo to help relieve any discomfort he may have, even if it's minor itching.
