Hello,
We might be getting a Boston so I've been doing some research online and found this forum! Please convince me either way whether or not to get one. We have a 7 year old bullmastiff who is extremely well behaved, lazy and not at all high maintenance. I have always loved Boston's but am trying to decide if it's the breed for me. Please give me all your advice, good or bad!

thanks!!

Rachel

I recently acquired my first boston. This is my 5th dog and I honestly cannot imagine ever having a different breed again. They have so much personality, you can't help but adore them.

I cannot say that all of the bostons out there are as great as mine, but I know that when it is time to get a second dog it will be a boston for sure!

Good luck!

Hello! Welcome to the site!
Obviously, i'm a little biased, but i truly love bostons! We have two, a boy and a girl, and they both have their differences, but they both are adorable.
I feel that bostons truly have a lot of personality, love, affection, playfulness and loyalty. With any breed, there are always differences from dog to dog, but one thing i have seen consistent with bostons are there love and playfulness with their owners!
Good luck in your decision!!

I have a 3 month old bt..I have had her 4 weeks now. And I don't know how I made it without her. I never knew anyone that owned a bt or had never saw one in person, just pics of them. In the 4 weeks we have had Shae she has totally stole our hearts. My husband was totally against a house dog, but he has fallen in love with her. I would never own any other type of dog again but a bt.....they are like children...so smart...so much fun...so lovable..good luck..

Default still looking and debating..

Hi,
We are still considering getting a Boston. I look online and call breeders here all the time. I'm nervous because I know it's a life long decision. I want one so bad but I'm also spoiled in that we have a 7 year old bullmastiff who is the best behaved lazy dog in the world. I have a 3 year old son that I'm trying to potty train so I'm wondering if the timing is right or should I wait until spring? What do you all think?!
I'm seeing Boston's everywhere now as if it were a "sign" to get one. I even saw one in a shopping cart at Academy sports the other day! Then I saw one at my daughter's softball game and one in the front seat of a car pulling out of my kid's school. I've never seen so many boston's ..never noticed them before until I started wanting one!
I'm also trying to decide if I should get a male or female. We have a female dog and I heard males will mark their territory. I don't want that for sure but a part of me is wanting a little boy. HELP!

The decision to get another dog is one that my wife and I struggled with for the longest time. We got the point that we basically just had to stop thinking about it and move on.

It wasn't too long after that, we heard from a friend that they had a relative that was looking for a home for an older Boston and wondered if we would consider taking him. We didn't have much time to make a decision, as the owner was planning to take him to the pound if they didn't find someone to take him soon.

We scooped Duke up, and haven't regretted the decision for a moment. Both of our Bostons are such great companions.

I'll respond to your other post regarding male vs. female in a bit
