Getting rid of him will just make his problems worse... and would you really want to put that on someone else? Just think, if you just got him and are already thinking of getting rid of him, do you think the new owners will keep him too? You could be the difference between a happy, loving, stable life for this dog... or a life of moving from home to home, never knowing love, only discipline, and never having a chance.

What you need to do is crate train this guy. Read a book about it, talk to a trainer, but get him crate trained and then once he is, never leave him out if you're not at home. Crate him at night too.

Don't give up on this guy.

Thumbs up Hi! - 04-25-2008, 01:21 PM

I agree - Crate training is the way to go with this little guy. My BT didn't like his at first, but now he loves it. it's his own special little den. He'll go in there without being told to. and it worked wonders on house training. Just make sure it's not too big that he can poop in one corner and sleep in another.

Crate training is proabably a good start. Here's a link from the humane society with info about crate training you might find helpful:

Also, you may want to take him to a dog training class. Check with your local Humane Society or SPCA to see if they offer any classes. I took my Rocco to one when he was a puppy and it was really helpful. I think I paid like 20 bucks for a 3 session class. Plus, if you adopted him they may not charge you. I hope this helps!

I agree try the crate Its a biiiiig help. I have a pooper too. Mine likes to eat it though. Make sure he gets plenty of potty breaks. Dont leave him in the crate too long. Dont over feed. Keep the crate in an area where he can see you guys, when your home. Mine is not crazy about the crate but is getting used to it. Hardly fusses anymore.
