HI EVERYONE!!! I am new to Boston Terriers and Could use some tips. What is the best thing to feed them? I have already purchased some pedagree small dog formula and a few cans of wet food for those special days. My dog seems very calm. She is around 2 years old i guess. She was dropped off at a friend of ours house and they couldnt keep her. So we got her. She isnt solid black by the way, She has some Brown Swirling like Brindle markings. She has been doing pretty good with my 1 year old and my cats. Is there anything we should be looking out for? Is there any special care that they require? I know i am going to have to buy her a harness due to her attemps at choking her self with the reg. collar, Is that normal with these dogs as well? Oh and what is the best kind of toys, treats, and bones? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make her happy. Thanks for reading! :-)

Congrats on your new addition! BT's have great temperments and make awesome family pets.
The only thing to watch out for is exposing them to extreme cold or heat. Because they have the short faces, they are not good at cooling themselves down, so if your BT spends a lot of time outside, make sure they do not overheat or are in the cold for too long.
Good move with the harness. My Rocco is not that bad at pulling on the leash, but he is much easier to walk with the harness. Plus, I don't have to be afraid he is going to hurt his neck if he pulls when he is wearing the harness.
As far as toys and treats, Rocco enjoys just about anything. BT's are usually big on chewing so anything that they can sink their teeth into is good. Rocco really loves those rope toys, but I have to take them away from him when he unfrays them because he tries to eat the strings. But really anything that squeaks is a big winner. Liver treats and science diet jerkey strips are also a big hit.
I hope this helps, and enjoy your boston!

Kelly
