Default First time no-mutt!
Old 08-19-2008, 05:17 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hey all, this is the first time I've actually got a dog that isn't a mutt! Was looking around for a place to get tips and answers on this rather fun breed!

I already have a "mutt" - He's Rott/Shar-Pei (85 lbs and holding) luckily he is VERY good with our 8 lb Boston - Bella...until she tries to take HER toy back.
So far, so good...was originally looking to see about how long their ears take to completely stand up, and it seems that she is right on schedule. She is right at 4 mos. old, only the tops flop over still and from what i can tell by reading, that is the norm.?

She is a cutie! It is definitely common at this age for their ears to flop. Some people either tape them up (I hear the nasal strips work well) or if you give her a bit of cottage cheese on her dog food the calcium will help.

I think "love" is a bit of a stretch...I'd say "tolerant". He was so used to being the baby and all; he had a little attitude at first - but still is quite good with her. Thanks for the comments, that picture from above is probably my favorite.

Cottage cheese?? I don't know if I could do that...I won't eat it, I could hardly make her do it. I will keep it in mind if I get desperate, however I am confident they will come up the rest of the way. Thanks for the tips though...this is why I joined this forum!
