Unhappy Frontline+ and still fleas? - 02-18-2008, 12:17 PM

Hi everyone!

Just got my new puppy Bruin about 9 1/2 weeks old now, i took him to the vet last week and she was kind enough to give me a puppy starter pack. I told her that he had fleas and had acquired them during transport to us from the breeder.. she gave me the 1st months sample of front line+. I put it on him and gave it a week but i noticed another flea on him today.. It seems that this stuff hasnt working or is it still working? I hate to see him scratch and most of all i dont want fleas in my house! What can i do??

it could be that you already have fleas in your house. treat you whole house against fleas and the bedding of your puppy. you can't treat your pup until a month has passed. this could be the problem.

Fleas can be nasty to get rid of. However, you may want to switch from frontline to another brand. When Rocco was a puppy he had the same issue, I was using Advantage and he still got fleas. I switched to frontline and it worked for him. My vet at the time said that some brands work better with different dogs. You may want to ask your vet about using another brand like Advantage or K9 Advantix. Once I switched Rocco he has not had any others problems with fleas.
