My 6-7 year old Boston has had diarrhea for several months and it is getting worse. it is liquid and has no form at all. We have been treating him for last several weeks with no improvement. We first took him to the vet, who performed several tests, suggested diet changes, gave B12 shots, and steroids, all with no improvement. He then sent us to a specialist who performed more tests, B12 shots, dewormer, and a prescription hydrolyzed protein dog food. Still no improvement and, in fact, may be slightly worse. Next step is to perform approx. $4K worth of tests or try a shotgun approach which is approx. $600 per month. Neither is feasible particularly since they may not find anything. Would be most appreciative if anyone has any suggestions that might help. The dog is beginning to show some signs of discomfort and may eventually have to be put down. I am desperate to avoid this but this cannot continue for much longer.Thank you,Jack
Both the specialist and regular vet have no clue and suggest further expensive tests. I was hoping for some diet ideas to try since he is only getting worse. I may try some canned food because he is not eating the dry food. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a food that might help?
