So my 11 month old BT started having a red swollen eye with some of his third eye showing (although not protruding or making a "cherry"), it went away the next morning and came back later that evening. Its been 2 days now and we took him to a 24 hour vet (only thing open during lock down). The 24 hr vet said it was cherry eye, it would require surgery (which in his words only has a 50% success). I was wondering if there are other conditions that might have a similar appearance and perhaps I was given an incorrect diagnosis because of my BT's age and breed? I will be getting a second opinion, and can post pics if needed. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
So we took Gunther (our 1 year old BT) to an eye specialist...they ruled out cherry eye...said the appearance of the third eye showing was a result of swelling and possibly a mass under his eye. The mass could be an infection, tumor, hemorrhaging from trauma, immune mediated inflammatory disorder, or a cyst. They have recommended and MRI + tissue sample + surgery. The price just keeps going up lol. Not sure what we are going to do yet....probably some more research and wait a little bit before we start shelling out $3500+
